Even harder than describing what type of music I play would be you reading me describing how hard it is to describe what type of music I play. Anyway, there's another story to tell. Identity was a huge struggle for me. Identification should come easier. I should try more. It's contradictory having an assertive sense of self and few internalized cultural trappings of tribe. Such is the material snare, scared and smug, part-time wallflower, hungering nuisance. Sometimes it means grabbing a flashlight and plunging into the dark as the batteries bleed out.











Fred Carlson has helped me go further into the unknown than I ever imagined possible. Our collaborations, the H'arpeggione and Big Red, have without exaggeration opened doors that were previously glued shut. It's like cutting a hole in your bedroom sheetrock and finding within the wall a parallel existence. All this time, right there! Inches away!
